Do you like scheduling meetings? We didn’t think so.
Do you have an app that tells you when people are available so you can instantly find time with them? Well now you do!
Michael Selepec and I founded Pick in March of 2014 because we saw a tremendous opportunity to help millions of people save countless hours. We were both very early employees at Yammer, and scheduled thousands of meetings throughout our careers as sales leaders. We knew that one day we’d head down the entrepreneurial path, and the opportunity became crystal clear when Yammer was acquired by Microsoft. Because Yammer was such a large acquisition, our inboxes were flooded with messages from recruiters requesting to meet. Many of them sent lists of available times that looked like this:
Tuesday: 9:00am, 9:30am, 11:00am, 12:30pm, 1:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm, 5:00pm
Wednesday: 8:30am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:00pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm, 4:30pm
Wow! When we saw these types of emails, we knew that scheduling was not just a salesperson problem, but an everyone problem. This problem exists for two reasons:
- If you don’t work at the same company, you don’t have access to your contact’s calendar (availability)
- Even if you do work at the same company, you don’t have access to your co-worker’s availability on your phone. And we all pretty much work through our phones these days.
Pick tears down both of these silos and makes scheduling so much easier. Here is how it works:
- Pick is FREE and is available in the iOS app store, on desktop web, and mobile web. When you sign up, we will sync with your digital calendar (currently Google, Outlook coming soon) and surface your email contact list. To schedule a meeting you just select who you want to meet with, for how long, and then Pick works its magic by looking into all calendars and surfacing mutual availability. We show you a list of times when everyone is free and you just have to Pick one.
- Every Pick user receives a personalized URL (ex: pick.co/ryan). Anyone you share this URL with now has real-time access to your availability and can book time on your calendar without having to chase you down. People who use your URL to schedule meetings with you do not have to be Pick users, so you can share this with anyone. We recommend putting your URL in your e-mail signature.
Pick is useful for just about anyone whether you are a salesperson finding time with a customer, a recruiter connecting candidates with clients, a student meeting for a class project, or just want to schedule lunch with a friend.
We see Pick evolving into the platform that not only saves you time scheduling and accelerates your life, but also helps you manage your relationships. More to come on that later this year!
